WOD Frequently Asked Questions

When I tap on the "today's WOD" entry, it doesn't work!

Note that the "todays WOD" entry in the workouts tab reads an RSS feed from a third party, and we don't have any control over the validity or content of the feed. Please ensure that the feed URL you enter is correct, that it is a valid RSS or Atom feed, and that you have a connection to the Internet.

When I tap on the "today's WOD" entry, it doesn't update the entries, it shows old entries instead of new ones.

There is a bug related to refreshing the feed that we are trying to sort out. In the meantime, you can force the app to reload the RSS feed by quitting and relaunching the app.

Why can't I log partial rounds in the "score" field of a workout?

Well, first of all, partial rounds don't really count. If you get five more squats in an attempt at Cindy, is that a meaningful improvement, that you want to measure?

If you really want to log your partial rounds, though, you should do this in the "notes" field when logging your WOD. You can enter anything you want in the big field on the bottom half of the screen; that's the best place to write down what partial attempt you got to.

On my iPad, the interface occasionally gets out-of-whack, and I can no longer use any of the functions of the app.

This is a known bug in the iPad version of the app. We haven't tracked it down yet, but your best bet for working around this is to quit and relaunch the app.

How do I quit and relaunch the app? If I click the home button and tap the WOD icon again, nothing changes?

In iOS 4 and later, quitting and relaunching an app is a slightly more involved process, because of multitasking support. To quit an app completely, do the following:

  1. Click the home button to return to the home screen.
  2. Click the home button twice to bring up the task tray at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Find the WOD icon in the task tray. Tap and hold it until it starts shaking.
  4. Tap the red circle on the WOD icon. The icon should be removed from the task tray.
  5. Click the home button twice to close the task tray again.
  6. Tap the WOD icon again to relaunch it.

The timers stutter or mis-count sometimes.

This is a known performance issue. We are working on a fix. Do note, however, that the app will still keep an accurate count of time, even if the display lags behind.

Why isn't web sync free?

Running the web service is cheap, but not free for me; your one-time fee for buying the app isn't enough to cover that cost. For a year, it costs less than I personally spend on coffee every couple of days. Plus I'd like to make some money — can you really blame me for that?

This app looks awesome! Will there be an Android/Windows Phone 7 version?

I am happy that you like the app and are interested in seeing it on another platform, but I currently have no plans to develop the app for any other operating system.

Why haven't you responded to my email? Do you want me to leave a bad review?

I am sorry, but I get a fair number of emails about the app. This is my part-time project, and I do everything from development to testing to answering support requests. I don't always have time for you. You can threaten all you like with your bad review retaliation, but you honestly did not pay me enough to care about you in particular.
